Rental Accommodation in Honiara, Solomon Islands

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands

Hi there!!

My boyfriend is currently working flyin/flyout at a mine not far from Honiara, Solomon Islands.
He is looking at being there until the end of the year and we have decided to relocate there from Perth WA for that time.

I am trying to find out what type of accommodation options we have for the 6 months we'll be there.

All I can seem to find is Hotels in which the Heritage is looking good to me, but am wondering if there is housing that take short term renters (6 months) that are safe and secure as I will be at home during the day by myself whilst my partner is working.

Any information anyone could pass on would be greatly appreciative!!

Thanks! :)

On your previous thread, I recommended St Agnes. Much better than the hotel if you are stuck there during the day, unless you want a swimming pool. For that period of time, the Heritage would cost the earth, and you would not have cooking facilities.
The advantage of St Agnes is you would get a chance to meet local people, as it is run by the Mothers Union, the biggest women's organisation in the country, and they have their office there, so you could call in and meet them.
They have television in the upstairs lounges, and if the self-contained studios are not available, the rooms upstairs have en-suites and there are shared kitchens.

Also, check out Visit Solomons the official tourism website, which may give you more ideas.
Look for other accommodation apart from hotels.
