Return Air Ticket ProblemCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Solomon Islands
We fly to Honiara from Brisbane this Tuesday 02 August. Our intention is to travel into PNG from the Solomons using land and sea, we cannot therefore satisfy the outward ticketing requirement. Does anybody know an airline flying from the Solomon Islands to anywhere who offer fully refundable tickets? In this way we can book a flight to get the necessary paperwork and then get a refund upon cancellation. Thank you
You could probably get a refund for a full Pacific Blue fare, (check the fare conditions on the website) or a Solomon Airlines one. However, Solomon Airlines tourist returns are often only a little more than one way. | 1
Do they really check when you get to the boarder? Well, I would probably use software like Photo Shop or some PDF edit one to make a fake one. Btw, can you tell me more about your plan go PNG by land or by air? | 2
They actually check your return ticket before you leave Australia. | 3
We booked a flight with Air Vanuatu and printed our confirmation. Afterwards the company contacted me to advise that the card had been declined (as it turned out i didn't have enough money in that particular account. Howeve, as we had what we needed to show to Pacific blue in Brisbane airport there was no requirement to take any further action. Lesson learnt for entry into the Solomon Islands if you are crossing into PNG from Choiseul or Shortlands, book an Air Vanautu ticket with an debt card that does not have sufficient funds :-) Thank you for your help | 4
I mean if you board Virgin's flight, you are definitely not going to photoshop a Virgin's flight, because they can check it's fake in 1 second. | 5
I just reread the earlier posts - why would anyone going to Solomon Islands book with Air Vanuatu? They only fly to Honiara once a week from Port Vila. If you are going to Solomon Islands and not Vanuatu, please support the local airline, Solomon Airlines, which is what Air Vanuatu would sell you a ticket for anyway. And there are no direct Sydney-Honiara flights, only Brisbane-Honiara. | 6
Sorry I mean Brisbane - Honiara. my mistake | 7
