tavanipupu- is it still operating

Can anyone tell me if Tavanipupu is still operating, i herd one of the owners sadly died, but it it still open and if so how do you get there - is the Aussie owner still at the property? All help appreciated.

I don't know if Tavanipupu and the other resort at Marau sound Tawaii are still operating. The main problem is to get transport from Honiara there. Previously there was a domestique flight by Solomon Airlines to Marau airfield. But this airfield is closed for more than a year now, because of land dispute. So the only transport to Marau area is presently by boat.
Guadalcanal Travel Services (GTS) was at one times sales agent for Tavanipupu, but they have stopped, because of the transport problems.

Tavanipupu is still up and running. Its under new mangement.

The new managers are just sorting things out like reliable transport but they can get you down there from Honiara easily.

For the time being a good contact in the Solomon Islands is Henk Delvendiep and his email is ripplesfreedom@hotmail.com. He runs a yacht charter business and would be able to put you in direct contact with the owners and even provide some transport.

Its a gorgeous, peaceful place.

Tavanipupu is still operating and received new owners in 2008. The resort has been refurbished and a few new features have been added such as a spa and an over water bar.

The airstrip at Marau Sound is now open so you can fly from Honiara to Marau Sound three time as week (Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays).
