Accommodation in Raiatea

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tahiti & French Polynesia

Hi,
We are 2 couples looking for a place to stay in Raiatea. We would like to rent a house or have 2 small bungalows. Our budget is about $200 - $300 a night (ideally closer to $200).

Does anybody know of a good place to rent? Or good websites to look at for Raiatea rentals?

Thank you,
Caro

I can recommend Sunset Beach Resort. They have bungalow accommodations with a small kitchenette and dining area, sofa and chairs and a separate bedroom, as well as an outside deck with loungers. The cost in '06 was 10,000XPF but I would imagine it will have increased but should still be in your price range. It is located on the water but is not near the main town - you may want to rent a car - Sunset arranged one for us. I would also like to suggest you have a look at the forum at www.tahiti-explorer.com - you may get other recommendations from there. Raiatea is a beautiful island!

There were a couple of bungalows at the Pension TePua. They are a couple of miles out of town but on the water (a wharf, not a beach) with a small pool. I stayed in the dorm room but the bungalows looked really nice.....I do not know if they had a kitchen in them but there was a shared kitchen that I used while staying in the dorm. There was a larger hotel for meals out and also a small supermarket nearby ...... both 5-10 mins walking distance. I actually stayed there without a car. The owners gave me a few rides to town, mostly I walked to town, and I explored the island on the local bus.......but only a few buses each day along each coast.
