Accomodation in Moorea/Bora Bora

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tahiti & French Polynesia

Hi All
Am planning a honeymoon in Tahiti & her islands in May 2007
Just not sure what `style' of accomodation we should go for - I understand the overwater bungalows are quite expensive in either Morrea or Bora Bora - are they really worth the money??
Which is the better island for activities etc? Moorea or BB?
Any help or advice would be greatly apreciated
Thanks

Bora Bora is one of the most beautiful islands in the world, but also one of the msot expesnive for what you get. Moorea is still beautiful, and more reasonably-priced, larger range of chocies as well. On bora Bora it's mainly the lagoon, on Moorea you have some lagoon, but high mountains as well, so a bit more choice in activities.

I've done both in about a 9-day trip. First night in PPT (or sleep at the airport until 6am!--but it IS your honeymoon!). Fly to Bora Bora next morning, 3 nights there. Thn get the flight from BOB to Moorea, i thinks it's a couple of times a week, but you have to check this. Stay 3 or 4 nights. Then back to PPT, for a night or two. Yuo can actually find packages that have it arranged that way, so if you get a decent deal, take it. If not, you can put all the pieces together via the internet and e-mails.

Read up on Tahiti Explorer, lots of folks there have stayed at OWBs.

I was at the Intercontinental Moorea which was GREAT! We had a beach bunglalow which is my opinion is a better value that an overwater bungalow. Some of them are really half in the water, plus they are basically around water vs our beach bungalow which had a stretch of sand right in front of it (kind of like a private stretch vs walk around to find a spot)...Know that tahiti doesn;t actually have sand beaches...the beaches are man made and kind of like tiny rock(rougher than sand) so bring swimming sandals :) Have fun!

Have you considered a yacht charter?
