Budget Accom. in Papette, Tahiti

Hi.

Just wondering how much backpacker accommodation costs in Papette or if they have such a thing on this tourist resort island. I am thinking of stopping over on the way back home to NZ and thinking about my options.

Can anyone give any recommendations and price ranges?

You might want to consider taking the 30-minute ferry over to Moorea, which has some nice camping accomodations. Check out Nelson Camping and Moorea Camping (reviews on Trip Advisor). www.camping-nelson.pf. Both are located on a nice white beach withint talking distance to shops, restaurants and a grocery store.

Tahiti Budget Lodge? I haven't heard of that one. Does it go by another name?

The 2007 dorm rate for Teamo is 2300 xpf.

It appears that the Tahiti Budget Lodge has gone out of business several years ago. I googled and only found reference to it on old unupdated Web sites. It's listed in the 2000 LP South Pacific Guidebook but not in any recent guides.

#1's advice to head to Moorea and stay on the beach is excellent. Camping Nelson and Moorea Camping both have dorm rooms.
