French Polynesia for our wedding anniversary

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tahiti & French Polynesia

The hubby and would like to go to Bora Bora for our wedding anniversary in February. However I have heard good things about Moorea as well. Does anyone know how we could stay on each of the two islands for 4 nights each? Is there a way to get from Bora Bora to Moorea or vice versa? All I want is to swim, snorkel and stay in an over-water bungalow... price is not important. Any advice/info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Mel

There are flights from Bora Bora to Moorea (and more frequently Bora Bora - Tahiti - Moorea) on Air Tahiti (the domestic carrier, not to be confused with Air Tahiti Nui, the international airline) and v v.

I would suggest checking out the Tahiti Explorer forum as well as the Tripadvisor French Polynesia forum for help with your planning.

Wow, I wish I could say "price is not important".

French Polynesia is very expensive.

Can I just add one real comment. Try to avoid a resort that is on the "mainland" , go for the outer reef places. The mainlands / island arn't that pretty to look at. Beaches are non existant, Matira Pt is one exception. Have a great anniv!!

There are flights between the two. We flew to Bora Bora from Moorea and from Bora Bora back to Tahiti for our flight out. We spent 2 nights in Bora Bora (more than enough for me ) and 4 nights in Moorea. So you could do 2 nights on each island, you just probably couldn't do any diving. Check Air Tahiti for their flights because as I could recall, flights didn't always run every day from/to certain islands.

The Sofitel in Moorea is amazing. We would order room service for breakfast, eat on our overwater balcony, and jump straight from our deck into the water to swim with the fishes. Really wonderful.
