French Polynesia on a budgetCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tahiti & French Polynesia
Hi everyone! A lot of people asks me how we managed to do French Polynesia on a budget, without camping or backpacking. We travelled for almost 3w and spent around 2500 EUR, intl flights from Europe included. So I decided to write a detailed post about it with the itinerary. It was such a hard trip to plan, so I'm happy to share our experience with others, since I believe this will be helpful to many:
2500 euros per person? So 5000 in total..is that right? Two thousand to get there and back, and the other 3000 while you were there? | 1
Hi! Yes, that's correct!! | 2
That's rather a large budget...... That's a years budget in many countries but glad you enjoyed your three weeks.... | 3
Wow that is a big budget? | 4
Not a big budget at all for being FP I'm afraid! | 5
big travel budget but if you stay at some resorts the "in Tahiti" costs its not out of the question. A week in Moorea at a resort isn't cheap, pay some more for Bora Bora | 6
Stay at Pensions and eat a lot of French Bread........much cheaper | 7
Very useful, thanks! Is anyone heading that direction in Oct/Nov 2019 and looking for a travel mate? | 8
FP is definitely expensive, but traveling there alone even more so, there's a HUGE difference between 5000 as a couple or 2500 alone, if alone you'll spend most of the times almost the same as traveling with a travel buddy. 2500 ain't bad per se but you're rather limited not so much in accomodations rather than in activities you can do. | 9
