getting to moorea after 5pm

Hi there. On our travels we are stopping at Tahiti for a few days. We (2 adults, 4 children), don't get in until 5pm. Are there any ways to get to Moorea for that evening (i.e any ferry crossings after 5 or however long it would take to get checked in and find our way to the dock)? We definitely want the cheapest accommodation possible. (Wishful thinking). May have to bypass Tahiti if its too expensive but a few days would be pretty cool. Any advice appreciated. We are in at 5pm and out 3 days later at 11.15pm. Cheers.

I would like to suggest you try posting your question on the forum at www.tahiti-explorer.com - there are a couple of locals on there that should be able to get you that information. You could also check on tripadvisor.

Looking at the schedule I got several weeks ago...last ferry leaves Papeete for Moorea at 5:30 pm from Monday to Thurs. At 5:45pm on Fri and Sat and 6:30pm on Sunday. It is maybe a 15 min drive from the airport to the port. I do not think you are going to make it. I have heard good things about the Fare Suisse. Might be a good place to stay the night.
