Help! Getting to Raiatea from Maupiti via boat

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tahiti & French Polynesia

Hello and Ia orana all!

I am new to the forums so perhaps this is a very obvious query...thanks for any help/assistance you can provide

We are visiting French Polynesia in November and as part of our trip, are staying in Maupiti for 3 nights. We wanted to go to Raiatea on a wednesday (or thursday), hence we cannot use Air Tahiti (which only seems to fly this route on Tuesdays)

Ive tried my best to make sense of the Maupiti Express schedule, tried emailing/calling but as I don't speak french it has been a bit of a struggle.

Does anyone know whether the boat goes from Maupti to Raiatea on Wednesday or Thursday please? Also, what time does it leave Maupiti/arrive at Raiatea, is it a direct boat or via Bora bora?

Thanks a lot in advance!!

You could try posting your question on www.tahiti-explorer.com - there used to be posters on there who live in the islands and would probably have up to date info on this question.

Maupiti can only be accessed via Bora Bora. It is a must see!

Its like Bora Bora 20 yrs ago. We were there with 5 other tourists in high season. While walking from the groceries, my wife and i were approach by two young teenage girls and they both gave us leis (just like the expensive ones at the airport!). We were so surpised because we look local (pacific islander) and were dumbfounded wether they wanted to sell them to us....short story, they just smiled and walked away.

this place has not been invaded by the tourist touting over water bungalows of other society islands! Go there and spend atleast 2-3 days!
