HoneyMoon Advice- Bora Bora/ Moorea/ Taha'a?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tahiti & French Polynesia
Hello- My fiance and I will be going to Bora Bora for sure, and adding a second (or third?) location amongst Moorea and/or Taha'a. We have 12 or 13 days to allocate amongst 2 or 3 locations.. We want to leave Bora Bora for our last 3 or 4 nights in an overwater bungalow (that is her 1 requirement). We also want to spend time in place with less people preferably or somewhere more active. For the less people, we are looking at Taha'a. For more active stuff we are looking at Moorea.. but we are unsure which direction to go. I am not sure how much work moving amongst islands is, but I want to make sure we maximize our time relaxing and avoid 2 full travel days in the middle of the trip, if possible. So far here are the two options we are looking at: 1) Spending 5/6 days in Moorea and 5/6 in Bora Bora. Questions: Would 5/6 days be too much in either location? Would the experience be similar in both? 2) Spending the first 5 days in Taha'a to unwind after the wedding and then the last 6/7 days in Bora Bora in an OWB. Questions: has anyone been to Taha'a? What is the vibe like? A third option would be going to Moorea first for 4 days, then Taha'a for 4, and finishing in Bora Bora for 4. But, that would include two travel days in the middle of the trip and I don't know we'd want to do that. My main concern is if we did Bora Bora and Taha'a we would get a bit bored, but I have never been anywhere like this so I can't be sure. Thanks!
Somehow I managed to lose my reply. :-( The short version is that you cannot go wrong with any of your options. Moorea offers the most varied acitivities, Bora- Bora the most beautiful lagoon and Taha'a the most relaxing experience. Beware of the Polynesian virus. It makes you dream of the islands at your job, wish you could book the next flight, smell the frangipani and float in the lagoon. :-) Edited by: NukuHiva2 | 1
Hi, Taha'a seems to be a very secluded place. Depends really what you are after. Are you guys diving? in that case you should definitely check out Rangiroa & Fakarava. Bora Bora is more animated & Moorea has more activities, I agree with Nuku Hiva. But I would visit more islands, given that you go there, is always good to explore :) Here's our split, flying from one island to the next: I am still updating pics and reviews of our Polynesian adventure, but we basically visited 6 islands in 2 weeks: http://www.dontplayahate.com/search/label/Tahiti | 2
