Honeymoon in Paradise

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tahiti & French Polynesia

Hello All,
I am about to book my honeymoon in French Polynesia for September. I have two options: either stay 5 nights in Moorea and 3 in Bora Bora, or opposite 3 nights in Moorea and 5 in Bora Bora. Either way we will be in a garden room at the Intercontinenetal in Moorea, and in a Horizon over water bungalow at the Intercontinental Le Moana. There is only about a $250 difference between the first and second option.
My fiance and I are active and like to swim, snorkel, hike etc., but also like to relax a bit. We are also budget conscious. If I were staying in BB out on a motu I without a doubt would stay there less time because food costs would be so high. However, the Le Moana is on the main island with close access to a market, and two reasonable (for BB) restaurants. There seems to be more activities on Moorea because its a larger island, but Bora Bora's beauty and water can't be beat.
I'm torn on which option I should pick? Please give me your opinions as I have to make a decision by Wednesday.

Thanks, Lea

Welcome to Thorn Tree.

You can't beat Bora Bora. Take the second option and spend 5 days there.

Sorry to balance out the opinions, but I would do longer in Moorea - exactly for the reasons you state. Bora Bora is stunning but there is very little to do on the island and you will b paying Intercon prices for food. It is definitely worth doing a dive on Bora Bora for the Lemon Sharks though...a real once in a lifetime experience!

It's a honeymoon. Bora Bora is beautiful and remote. How much do you need "to do" on a honeymoon?

Hi Zeldasdad,

Why are some people on Thorn Tree so painful?. OK, so i have a different opinion from yours, but I have been to both and, personally, I would spend five days on Moorea. Me, I have no problem that you don't think so!

Maybe you could read the original post for a hint though??

I didn't express an opinion in my second post, I asked a question. I have no problem with the fact that you and I may disagree. The OP can expect to have a great time on either island. I've been to both islands too.
