I'm trying to find the best travel agent and/or company that does Honeymoon packages for Tahiti for couples like us. Which means that we are hoping (fingers crossed for us) to use a combination of points/money for the flights and then to be able to stay at resorts for a few nights--we can't go all the way there and not do the over water bungalow experience--but then stay some where a little cheaper, low key the rest of the time. Island hopping is necessary, we were hoping to do about a week and a half or two weeks. Does anyone know of a company like this? Have good experiences working with any one in particular? Thanks in advance!
"Low key" while honeymoon??? Budget travelling while honeymoon??? I always thought honeymoon should be something special. Better go to a travel destination you can afford. You also would not go to Tanzania in Africa if you were not able to afford a decent Safari. 7-14 days??? Then go to Ecuador in South American and explore the Avenida de los Volcanes in the Sierra. The Avenida de los Volcanes is unique. And 1 of top 5 locations worldwide. Make it 10-14 days. Your itinerary... Quito, Otavalo (Indio market), Cotopaxi (top volcano), Banos, Chimborazo (top volcano), Misahualli, Coca (jungle), flight back to Quito. Climb Cotopaxi, if possible. It's very rewarding and an experience for a lifetime. The Avenida de los Volcanes in the Sierra (Highland) in Ecuador is awesome, rocks and is very rewarding. Rent a pick up and sit on the back if you drive down the Panamericana from Quito to the Cotopaxi and Banos. Go to French Polynesia later. When you can afford a decent budget without any problem. When you can afford a decent travel budget, spend 4-6 days at the French Lagoon Resort on Bora Bora. The French Lagoon Resort belongs to the The leading hotels of the world group. The French Lagoon Resort is great. And the vista to Otemanu is awesome. Have fun. | 1
I think you can enjoy a mix of authentic travel and local pensions combined with a stay in a luxury hotel. In fact I prefer that. I am a former world backpacker, now a bit older and can afford more however I choose to mix up all my trips to include authentic cultural experiences in low key pensions with ultra luxury these days. Travel to me is not about checking into a luxury hotel but it is certainly nice for a treat or a relaxing ending to a trip. As for French Polynesia, I have mixed up our upcoming honeymoon to include Huahine, a small less developed island, (noted by LP to be authentic and very Polynesian), basic beach bungalow (also LP) and inexpensive followed by OWB at Intercontinental Bora Bora top end. Yes even the agent we booked with questioned my request and pointed out the difference between the two, which was quite professional service. I am looking forward to both islands equally and I would hate to go all that way and only see high end resorts. As well we are not bypassing Tahiti but taking time to explore here as well. Our inexpensive bungalow is still $130 a night (so not super budget, I paid $10.00 or less years ago for similar in Indonesia or Thailand). If that price point is too high avoid French Polynesia. For total flexible vacation package contact Tahiti Vacation and Cruise. We booked flight on points, I put together itinerary to include a variety of items and scale of travel they made all arrangements. I travel on Fri so will have better idea of service then but experience this far has been great. Mix it up! Enjoy. | 2
@crab20 I'd love to hear the results of your trip and what you would recommend. You sound like a very experienced traveller with tastes similar to myself. Can you recommend places to stay and things to do? Many thanks in advance for your advice! | 3
