Hello guys, | ||
How wonderful to hear! I'm glad that it turned out as great as it sounded. (I wrote about the place opening but I haven't been there myself. It just sounded great.) | 1
Of course you can! | 2 | |
Hello Alimo, Thank you for your post. This place sounds incredible and I am really interested by it. I just have one question for you: How/where do you purchase groceries and bring them over to the motu? Thanks in advance, Eveline | 3
My husband and I just returned from a trip to French Polynesia. Staying at Au Motu Mahare on Huahine was a definite high point! Kim and Walter were fabulous hosts. Walter took us to purchase groceries at the well-equipped market in Fare before we headed out to the Motu. After a short boat ride across the gorgeous lagoon we landed in paradise. Two lovingly crafted fares (cabins) with a wonderful common kitchen and a separate covered dining area. The toilets were fabulous with hand-carved wooden sinks and refreshing showers! And the location could not be beat if you want a relaxing, snorkeling- and kayaking- filled holiday. The lagoon was like a private aquarium! We even were able to bike around the island. Huahine is one of our all-time top destinations. For the money, Au Motu Mahare was amazing. Would recommend this place to any of our friends. Remember mosquito repellent (as is needed everywhere we went in F.P.) and prepare to enjoy your stay! Thanks for the tip Alimo! | 4

I would probably never have known about this place if it weren't for this blog posting. I am now booked for March 2010 for 3 nights at Au Motu Mahare. My husband and I will be travelling to French Polynesia for 2 weeks and my whole itinerary revolved around being able to stay here. While it is not the lodging of choice for people who want a "pampering" vacation it is exactly what we were looking for-snorkeling,kayaking,cooking on our own and a bit more rustic. I cannot believe the price was so reasonable-just under $100 (us) per night. Where else can you stay on a private motu, have it almost to yourself, surrounded by such a beautiful setting, for that price? I will write a trip report upon our return. I am sure this will be a highlight of our trip!! Thank you so much for telling your "secret"!!!! | 6
