Hi there
we are planning to visit the Marquesas and where wondering if someone has already been in Rose Corser's new Hee Tai Inn in Nuku Hiva?
And do we need to take along hiking boots or are hiking sandals save enough for hiking in the Marquesas?
Thanks
Stefania

I would take sneakers. Sandals were a bit too flimsy for one of the trails I hiked, but they are fine if you stick to the jeep trails.

Hi,

We didn't spend time specifically at Rose's. Passed by it plenty of times though on the way up to the Pearl Lodge. We were on a sailboat but it looked okay.

I would think you'd be fine with hiking sandals in the Marquesas. I never considered putting on shoes.

Some lightweight water resistant trail runners would be a good compromise. If you travel in June/July months, it can rain a lot, so you don't want to get caught with wet sneakers. True hiking boots would probably take too much space in your suitcase.
