Pensions /budget low key on Tahiti and Mo'oeraCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tahiti & French Polynesia
Hi Folks My husband and I are going on a (relatively!) "low budget" holiday to Tahiti and Mo'oera. We are looking to stay at very low key, self-catering, quiet places. A view to the beautiful lagoon/ocean would be my big thing. Does anyone have any reccommendations:
All of the very best to you Regards
....And does anyone have any thoughts on Fare Miti on Mo'oera? Anyone been there recently? Kind regards | 1
Hi Stephanie, Head over to the Tahiti Explorer Forums - it and Tripadvisor are better resources for French Polynesia. Barbi, who posts on both boards, stays at Fare Miti all the time. She'll give you all the information you need. | 2
Many thanks Silvanocat - I've starting looking already, and indeed, she does seem to rate Fare Miti highly! Thanks again. | 3
With regard to staying near Papeete - we chose Relais Fenua, a small place about 20 minutes from the city. It was about Cdn$120 a night back in 2006 but it had a kitchenette, A/C and a lovely pool - the beach was a short walk away. They offered airport transfer for about 2000CFP and laundry services as well. We also arranged a rental car through them. I'm not sure if they have a web site but we contacted them through e-mail - relais.fenua@mail.pf - hope this helps! | 4
I stayed at the Pension de la Plage on Tahiti (Google it). It is in the opposite direction to Papeete from the airport but they offer airport transfers for XPF 1000. The cost for two people I think is 8500. The rooms are very pleasant and the beach is a block away. The owner is very nice and helpful. There is wifi for 500/day which is an incredible bargain in PF. Even if you don't rent a car, there are plenty of shops, a supermarket and restaurants within 5 minutes walking distance. It's on the main road and the trucks (public transport) to Papeete pass by regularly. Overall highly recommended. | 5
A second vote for Pension de la Plage, a good place to stay. And there is a bus out front that you can catch into town, and a small shopping center with grocery store and cafes, a few blocks away. | 6
