Rurutu whale snorkeling, is it worth it?

Hello,

My future husband and I will be honeymooning in French Polynesia at the end of August. We are considering taking a few days to go to Rurutu to swim with the whales. Has anyone done this recently? Is it worth the extra money/time/effort to go to Rurutu? Does anyone have any idea what the chances of seeing whales are, and are you still allowed to snorkel with them? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
