Sheraton Moorea Lagoon Resort - food

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tahiti & French Polynesia

Looking at staying at the Sheraton Moorea Lagoon Resort in Nov and wondering if we should be buying the meal plan or pay as we go. It seems really expensive but then so does everywhere. Have got a good deal for the accom side. We would prefer not to eat in the resort the whole time and was wondering if anyone knows if there are any other restaurants close by or if there is a shop where you can buy snacks, bread, wine etc. Thanks

No, no, no don't buy the meal plan.

It's quite probable (check the web site) that the price is the same for meals whether you buy them in advance or as you go.

There is a small market nearby and two larger supermarkets in Cooks Bay (3 miles). There are a couple of restaurants as well as a hamburger/pizza place within walking distance. Some restaurants will pick you up.

Check the forums over on Tahiti Explorer for details, many posts there covering similar.

As a matter of principle, I never take the meal plan unlesss there is no option.

Firstly it is nebver cheaper, Im forced to limit variety, miss out on local culture, and eat my fill cos I can (not cos I need it)

Hi Me again my message got cancelled! we stayed right next door (next beach) to the Sheraton Dec/Jan 06/07 for a month in a small hut called Fare Nani. We used to go every wens/sat to the Sheraton to see the Island night..Great fun. We ate there a few times and it was good..Pancakes at the bar on the lagoon were good value and tasty. There is a hambuger/piazza hut if you turn left as you come out of the main entrance, another place but it is a longer walk, is to your right at the main entrance. It is on the mountain side and if you bring your own bowl they will fill it to the top as a take away! There is a small shop near there on the lagoon side of the road.
If you take a short walk..wade through the water to your left as you face the reef visit Maeva from fare Nani and say that Holly (irish )and Luca (italian) say "Ia Orana"..Thanks.If you want to see some of my photos check out www.travelpod.com/members/lollypop
