Tahiti and rarotonga

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tahiti & French Polynesia

Having read some of the postings regarding Air New Zealand and Air tahiti Nui am I right in assuming we can no longer visit both destinations without going either back to Auckland or LAX first? or is their still a flight connecting the two?? Up until last year we flew from LAX to Raro and Tahiti and back on Air New Zealand connecting to/ from London has this all changed? Thanks

Yes, it has changed. There is a non-stop LAX - Rarotonga flight now. Air New Zealand no longer flies to Tahiti from LAX but still does from Auckland.

In response to this Air Rarotonga and Air Tahiti (the domestic carrier, not Air Tahiti Nui) have began twice weekly flights between Rarotonga and Tahiti.

we just took the flights from raro to tahiti. They fly only on tuesdays and saturdays. Good service, and nice flights, which I've found to be typical of Air tahiti. It's about 2.5 hours each way. In both directions, the planes were almost empty, so I'm not sure how much longer they'll keep this route.

Yes, travelers should note that this is a separate ticket one muct pay for, there is no agreement with Air NZ or Air Tahiti Nui to include it as part of their tickets.

Is this a daytime flight or a late night flight like the old ANZ flight? thanks

Not sure, but check Air Raro website, I think it's www.airraro.com or www.airraro.co.ck
