Tatakoto by any means necessary!

Does anyone know of a method to get to Tatakoto Atoll in the eastern Tuamotu's without a charter flight or some sort of travel package? I am trying to get there July of next year for the solar eclipse. Of course all the group tours and packages are outrageously priced, not to mention not my style at all. I was thinking cargo boat, but having trouble finding information on it. I have a message into Air Tahiti but have not heard back. Trying to get there cheaply, but know i'll likely have to pay a fairly hefty sum to get there at all. Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

I have no idea but I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps we could look at the other atolls in the path that aren't as close to the center line, may be possible to reach via a local boat.
