TIKI VILLAGE THEATRE - Moorea - Anyone been there ?

A few questions:

Is it best to go on an organized tour to this village, or go on your own. How do i get the most out of a visit to this place ?

When is the best time to visit. From what I undestand, it's open during day and evening and has various performances ?

Thanx for any info. Much appreciated.

Do it on your own. If you do not have a hire car, there is a truck that goes around that part of the island that coincides with the arrival of the ferries from Papeete. There is a night show with fire dancing that is quite good - look at the brochure and see times/day and also whether there is an option for the traditional maaa'a Tahiti. (food cooked in the underground oven)

Enjoy Mortyman! Tahiti is special and it is good weather at the moment (as opposed to a few weeks ago)

Also, you can call the theater and they have a 'pick up for a fee service'. Some of the shows dancers picked us up on the way to the performance, and then drove us back to our pension when it was finished. A very good show, and the dinner is good to.
