Time in Tahiti

Hey hey,

I'm planning a trip to Easter island and was looking at the Tahiti route. I'll probably have a few days in Papeete before I continue on to EI. I was wondering if anyone could give me some info on what to do, where to go, where to stay in about 3-4 days? Cost isn't a real problem but i'm not really one for big and fancy resorts and lots of tourists, but something on the beach would ideal.

Papeete is okay for a day. For anything longer, I would take the ferry to Moorea and stay there. It's a spectacular island with jagged peaks. Be aware that expensive is a relative term. Hotel Les Tipaniers is one of the less expensive places and it's on the beach. Hotel Kaveka sits at the edge of Cook's bay, affording very good views.

Take the Moorea circle island tour, or rent a bicycle to ride around. I would also do a motu picnic, which usually involves feeding the stingrays.

There are some fun things to do on Tahiti the 4wd to the center of the island or the circle island tour. Maybe some surf lessons. Moorea is close and very beautiful you could even do it as a day trip. Remember mosquito repellent. If you ride a bike expect some dog problems seriously dont ride or jog at night. Even in the day if your outside the toursit areas walk softly and carry a big stick.
