We need your help

We are flying into Papeete early June and staying for 15 days.
We are looking to do some surfing, we are far from experts so would be looking for an easy area to surf. I also love spearfishing, is there anywhere / one that takes people spearfishing?
We are looking to go on a few walks and spend time on beautiful beaches.

I will be doing a fair bit of research before we go on what and where to go but if anyone could reccommend anywhere to go we would much appreieate it.

Is Papeete the place you fly into and leave the next day? Are the other islands better for a 22 year old couple?

Sorry I can't help as I've never been to Papeete, but the new Moon Handbook on Tahiti by David Stanley, 6th edition, has quite a bit of information on surfing in Papeete and other areas of Tahiti.

I am not a surfer but the only surfers we saw were on Tahiti Island itself. I understand from reading other posts that the best surfing is on the main island, so you may want to spend several days there. It wasn't our favorite island, but once you get away from Papeete you will find the island has it's own charm. Moorea and Bora Bora seem to be where a lot of younger couples go.
