Who has found some really good accommdation in Tahiti?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tahiti & French Polynesia
Accommodation needed in French Polynesia from 1 June 2009 - mid August 2009 ; We are 2 British, early retired but youthful ladies who are responsible travellers and writing about our travel experiences. We prefer to stay in budget family pension/ rent an apartment/bungalow or do some housesitting rather than use expensive hotels. We can speak some French. We will need to get to Papeete for the Heiva festival from mid June to mid July; before and after these dates we will be visiting other islands so we are interested in all locations. We have the usual lonely planet guide books and internet, checking tripadvisor etc but keen to consider all options available. I was there in 2002 having sailed through the Pacific on a friends yacht and decided to stay for a while in budget accommodation. I found some of the places in Papeete very nasty at that time. Can anyone offer or recommend accommodation based on your own experience of the area?
