Work to become a dive Master

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tahiti & French Polynesia

Hi!
I'm a 21 years old university student from Switzerland and I have a huge passion for diving!
I would like becoming a Dive master in my gap year between bachelor and master, but like most students I don't have enough money to pay for it.
I have a friend, who worked in a dive centre in the Philippines for some months in exchange of a full instruction up to Dive master; so my question is:

Do you know if it is possible to do the same at any diving school in French Polynesia?

Thank you in advance!

PS: I study biochemistry and I speak Italian (mother language), French (fluently), German (fluently) and English (fluently).

PPS: Suggestion of other places I may go are also very welcomed!

Most dive shops offer DM internships, but it depends on their availability. Try looking up specific shops in French Polynesia and contacting them individually. Usually they will train you up to a certain level, and then you work for them for free for a while, so as long as you're prepared to not make any money aside from tips, go for it.
