Booking Accommodation for Captain Cooks Resort

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tonga

Hello, Ron and I will be going to Tonga in July and have managed to book most of our accommodation on-line. I have rang Captain Cook Resort on Uoleva and spoke to some guy (probably Sony). All I could manage was to be told to ring again when I am in Tonga. We will be in Ha'apai about the end of July. Considering I actually couldn't make a booking will it really matter?. I've heard it is pretty hard to organise to stay at Captain Cook's. Does anyone out there have any suggestions! Thanks Ellie

You may have spoken to his son who lives in town. I know when I booked, through the tourist office in Lifuka the day before I wanted to go, they spoke with some guy who I thought was him but was his grown son. So we had a time for my pick-up set and then I had to wait for several hours because it turned out he knew nothing about it and had to appear as a witness in a court case.

I suppose you could offer to pay a deposit, which of course would be complicated and might cost you money in wire transfer fees. You could also try writing him a letter so that there is a reminder of your interest in writing.

His place is the smaller of the two on Uoleva. He has three rooms for rent. The other place has a lot of huts. (But they did not look too inviting.) However, it is right next door. (A city block away.)

Hi Ellie

I can pass on a message for you to Soni as he comes into Mariner's every time he is in town. If you email me your requirements that would do the trick.

Cheers

Hi Craig - -

We were hoping to stay at Captain Cook Resort in early October, there are 4 of us, any tips on the best way to organise this? We were also hoping to stay at Esi ‘O Ma’afu Pangai on 'Uiha for a few days also. Any tips gratefully recieved!
