| amaile07:04 UTC20 Sep 2007 | Finally! Good news for some visitors.
-------
To whom it may concern:
Subject: Visa Policy Change Notification
Please be informed that effective from 12th September 2007, the Immigration Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Tonga has added the following countries under its visa-waiver policy:
Republic of Korea Czech Republic Estonia Hungary Latvia Lithuania Poland Slovakia Slovenia Bulgaria Romania
What the above policy means is that citizens who hold passports from the aforementioned countries (in addition to current visa-waiver countries) shall be granted permission to enter the Kingdom at a port of entry and apply for a Visitor’s Visa ON ARRIVAL. The visitor’s visa is issued free of charge for 31 days and is renewable (payment required) on completion of the relevant form and fees.
Because of this short notice policy change and its effectiveness from 12th September 2007 onwards, the Immigration Division is presently informing all relevant authorities and international airlines.
If you have any queries relating to the foregoings, please contact the Immigration Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on telephone number (676) 26970 or 26969.

So from now on Tonga will be back on my travel wish list. Should fit it into a RTW trip eventually...
Great job done by whoever got the slow wheels of Tongan burocracy working! ;-)

| Laszlo18:54 UTC24 Sep 2007 | As a further evidence of amazing efficiency, the new visa regulation already shows up in airline databases, like on this site.
Looks like it's done, and everyone who needs to know about it does.
