Current state of Ha'apai, post-cyclone

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tonga

The Ha'apai region of Tonga was ravaged by Cyclone Ian in January (2014). Can anyone report on the current state of affairs there? Has rebuilding progressed?

From what I can gather only the higher-end Sandy Beach resort seems to be operational. Are there any budget/mid-range accommodation options open at the moment (or will be in the next few months)?

Ha'apai recovering well.
Most guesthouses in Pangai are operational.
A few places on Uoleva are operational.
Guesthouse/dive operator on Foa only running tours, but accommodation should be ready in Sept/Oct.
