What sort of government do Tongans want?

Like Ausralia and new Zealand that still have a monarch as head of state but with much reduced powers,

or like England with a Monarch in the thick of things,

or like Canada where the monarch is head of state but has stuff all to do with anything?

Well, it's Tonga.
So I guess we'll just have to wait... and wait... and wait... and then, eventually, maybe see it happen.
