Faxing to TongaCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tonga
I have attempted to fax booking confirmations to two hotels for a stay in September, but have been unable to get through. E-mail seems to work well; however, I am unwilling to send credit card information via this method. Faxing to this island nation, is this a common occurance or unique to me? Should I continue to try or move on to Plan B? What would Plan B be? Thank you for your help.
Tonga is kinda like that... Why don't you just call them? If you talk fast it won't cost that much more - or maybe you skype and the cost isn't an issue. only other alternative i can think of is a wire transfer of funds. where i live that costs $45US. not exactly 'affordable', but it's done. | 1
or just email it. | 2 | |
I also had difficulty faxing to Tonga. I asked a number of techies about emailing and they all discouraged me. They said it was like writing your credit card information on a postcard. So I scheduled a phone call via email and called with the credit card number. | 3
Since Saturday 4th April, our phone line has been down, due to strong wind and cyclone LIN, which came directly over Tongatapu yesterday, 5th April. We do not know when the telephone/fax line will be fixed. We have our power restored, and our mobile phones as well as wireless internet connection have been working, but no lland-line telephone/fax. | 4
Emailing a CC# is easy enough. Put half the numbers in one email, the other half in another email and the expiration date in a third. Yes someone might intercept one email but what are the chance of intercepting 3? | 5
