Hi I am thinking of going to Tonga for a week in june july with my husband, we would like to do some deep sea fishing, how do you find a reliable boat to go out on? Can anyone recoment accomidation nice mid range ? Also how do you get around can you hire a car? Any tips will be greatly appreciated thanks from karon.
Thanks! Could we ride double on the scooter? | 1
I don't see why you couldn't? Roads are pretty rough in places but it's not a problem as long as you take it slow. Speed limit is 40km/hr so you won't be going too fast anyhow. Cost is per scooter not per person. I don't believe that there was anything in the contract to restrict it to one person - but maybe said them an email to find out. I found them very good to deal with via email. | 2
The scooter place on Vava'u specifically prohibits people from doubling up on their scooters-many Tongans are grossly fat and they cripple the machines in no time. As to fishing don't bother if you're staying on Tongatapu there's not enough action to make it worth your while-local waters have been raped/plundered into aridity. On Vava'u it all depends on the current it's it's close enough it'll bring some fish into range. For a budget trip contact Paul Mead via this site http://www.vavau.to/activities2.html but Be Warned fishing isn't cheap and all the fish belongs to the boat unless you arrange otherwise first-usually no problem. | 3
