Massages in Tonga

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tonga

Hi All!

My boyfriend and I are leaving for our highly anticipated trip to Tonga next week - very exciting!

I was suprised to see after reading the Lonely Planet from cover to cover that there is no mention of massages/day spas. Does anyone know where we can get a good, reasonably priced massage when we get to Tonga?

Thanks

Bec:)

P.S Does anyone know if the whales are still swimming around Tonga, or have they moved on already??

I thought I saw an ad for massage at the little tour office at the Dateline Hotel, just opposite the check-in desk. I think they had it in a room just past the little barber shop a few feet away, but I'm not sure if it is still on or not.

when we stayed at the tongan beach resort the owners organised one for us from one of their staff.
Might pay to just ask around.

I think the whales may have moved on - but you may see some passing on their return journey. There are places you can get a massage or beauty treatment - I saw it advertised at the Dateline - there are others too, but I'm not sure where. I'm sure you cuold find out when you get there.

Hi,

Tonga does not have a day spa of anykind that I have come across. There are a few beauty salons however 'spas/day spas' No. Sorry to dissapoint, however if you day trip to Fafa Island they have a massage fale. For an iteresting massage head to the Blow Holes for a day out and there is usually a guy that gives massges while his wife and child sell handy crafts. I have to say that's one massage I will never forget!
The whales have moved on. The season is normally July to November. Dont over look Eua as a whale watching destination. The Hideaway Resort has the best view for watching these magnificent creatures.

Hope this helps.
