New Japanese Restaurant in Nuku'alofaCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tonga
Hi, everyone. While I was away from Tonga, a new restaurant opened in Nuku'alofa; a Japanese restaurant, specializing in Sashimi. It's called "Mikado", meaning "Emperor" in Japanese. The chef has been preparing Japanese food for the current Tongan King for a couple of decades. It's located behind the former Pacific Royale Hotel, which was burned down last year. From the main road, Taufa'ahau Rd., you can see the sign. There is a gate along the fence to get to the restaurant. It's a two storey small house, convered into a restaurant. They have Sashimi Lunch for T$15.00, and dinner is T$50.00 per person, tax inclusive. I tried it a few days ago. It's best if you go on Monday, when the condition of the sea the previous Saturday was calm. Because the chef himself goes fishing to get fresh fish. The phone number of the restaurant is 25-705.
Wonderful News! | 1 | |
I went there once and I thought the food was very average. | 2
I had sashimi at the Black Pearl last year- can't recall how much, but it was wonderful, and almost too much for me to eat (and I am capable of doing the Tongan thing and eating until I am tired!) Rob | 3
