short break ideas?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tonga

Hello everyone. My wife and I (both over 50 - into snorkeling - also have PADI tickets , nice beaches, swaying palm trees, nice (not basic) beach hut type accommodation and good food (- not too fussy then!!) will have 4 full days (3 nights - early arrival, late departure flights) early November. Can anyone suggest a suitable romantic place to stay either on main island or smaller island easily (and reliably) accessible? Any suggestions would be most welcome. many thanks

With only three nights, you are limited to Tongatapu, not enough time to fly to Ha'apai or Vava'u.

There are two or three resorts on little islands off the harbour on Tongatapu. One gets a ferry to them. Pangiamotu is a budget/basic place, not sure it meets your desires. The other two places are a lot for money, however. Don't remember their names, but they can be easily found on the 'net.

The other places are Fafa island and Royal Sunset island, the latter is cheaper

Which country will you be flying into?

3

The category was Tonga so Raro and I have assumed it was Tonga.

4

oops !! sorry - I didnt notice that.

As Ive not been to Tonga Ill keep quiet.

5

Try Blue Banana Beach Resort on north-eastern side of Tongatapu.

But you will have to come to Nuku'alofa to go diving.

6

Fafa is great but very pricey.

7

Try white sands resort which has only just opened on the West Coast - used to be called princess beach I think. Looks good, on a nice stretch of beach and reasonably priced from what I'm told.
