We have just got back from Tonga and can recommend theHeilala holiday lodge which we stayed at for 1 week. Taxi fare to town is $8 and can recommend the emerald restaurant and also cafe escape.
It's nice but there are many just as nice closer to town if town is what people want. | 1
yeah heilala is good as are several others. I always recommend the Nerima Lodge. Depends on the budget, really. | 2
Hey There, I am from Canada, presently living in Auckland. I have two weeks to travel in September and am planning on checking out Tonga. Is this too long to stay in Tonga? Any suggestions on activities/events going on around late August, early September? Any help is appreciated. Thanks. | 3
You could easily spend a week each in Va'vau or Ha'apai. snorkeling, diving, whale watching, strolling around etc. Tongatapu, the main island won't take much of your time. maybe 3 or 4 days. | 4
Thank you for the helpful info. We are booked and ready to go! | 5
Heilala is OK, nice place and friendly people. Has free wifi and breakfast, snorkeling gear and free bikes in the evening. Its just around the corner from Tonis guesthose, which is cheaper but there you are charged for every little thing, so in the end its not such a big difference for this really calmer and friendlier place. Friend from Japan stayed at winnies guesthouse and were also rellay happy with that | 6
