| harry_mudd09:23 UTC31 Mar 2007 | Tonga and Fiji were on SBS the other day. A young Englishman for a host and his angle was foods of the region.
It was called:

Quote
COOKING IN THE DANGER ZONE Tonga And Fiji - In this five-part series, food writer Stefan Gates explores some of the most controversial food issues in the world. In tonight's episode Stefan finds some of the fattest people on Earth. In Tonga he discovers an alarmingly large percentage of Tongans are obese - literally eating themselves to death. In Fiji, he tries the local narcotic - cava - and slaughters a piglet for lunch. (From the UK, in English) (Food Series) (Part 4) PG CC WS SMS Alert Code: 9476

God it was as disgrace.
He had to have an angle, and it was why are Tongan's so fat. He showed a feast, and one large chap who had to go to three feasts a day for the week. He showed suckling pig, fatty lamb flaps, pork etc. he emphasized the starchy diet. Not once did he show a skinny Tongan. I know there are skinny Tongan's, i had plenty working for me.
he just seemed to want to concentrate on that one feast without showing the rest of Tonga. Journalists with an agenda give me the irrits.
not once did I see any seafood!
His comment on the cava (sic) was a joke. "This stuff is not alcoholic, so should be ok". an idiot.
he insulted Fiji in a similar manner.

Diabetes is a huge problem in Polynesia, but I don't think this show is really helping the cause much!

Perhaps he'd have liked to discuss Tongan fitness with say Jonah Lomhu ??

Perhaps travel is the same......?
