Travelling from Oz to Tonga

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Tonga

Hay just got a few questions, if anyone can help would be good, thanks :) -

How much are hostels in Tonga, Samoa and/or Cook islands?

Is it possible to travel by boat from Tonga to Samoa? If so how much?

What is the weather like in June?

How much would it be to get a hire car?

How much would it cost to hire a boat for trips around immediate islands?

what are the food prices like??

Im gona try do Tonga with $500 AUD, do you think this will be enough?

If anyone can help, that would be great :) xx

Independent Samoa has few hostels. For low-end accommodation, you instead stay in traditional fales, which don't have AC, sometimes lack electricity, and generally don't lock. Weather will be hot, humid, and rainy. I am not aware of any boats that run from Samoa to Tonga regularly, only the ferry service from Samoa to American Samoa. Food is cheap if you stick to local stuff (tuna, breadfruit, bananas and other local fruits), expensive if you want imported stuff. Many fales have included breakfast, and some have included dinner.

You should search the forum for the countries you mention and do some more research before posting so many questions about 3 different places.

And read the relevant guidebook(s), I might add...
