OK, a question for the Tongans and others.

I am looking at a job in Vanuatu. How does it compare with Tonga? Lifestyle, cost of living wise.?

funny coincidence - I've been looking into working in Vanuatu - the opportunity came up at work recently. Can't speak from experience - but one thing I want to look into further is the level of malaria risk. Unlike Tonga, Vanuatu is malarial. I have young children, so I'm particulalry concerned about health issues in countries we go to. I plan to speak to some of my colleagues who are over there now to try and find out more - will let you know if I learn anything useful....

Vanuatu is one of the more expensive countries in the pacific. There is not much life outside of Vila. Restaurants are very good, but expensive. In Luganville choices are limited. Most places are closed on sundays. Tonga is definitely cheaper and more developed. In Vanuatu tourism is picking up in Vila and in Luganville, but limited in other places. Both people are very traditional, but Tonga is more developed.
