14 days in the Solomons

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hello

Thank you to all who have posted and replied previously, its so hard to find info about the solomons so the posts here are invaluable!

I am travelling to the solomons next June to get married and for a honeymoon. This will be my 2nd time in the solomons and we are interested in diving, fishing, snorkelling and local culture.
I am a bit stuck on the last bit of the itinerary and wondering if anyone can help.
This is the proposed itinerary:

Fly Brisbane to Honiara
5th July

2 nights Honiara-with day trip to Savo

Fly Honiara to Marau Sound
7th July

5 nights Tavanipupu resort , wedding

Fly Marau Sound to Honiara
10th July

1 night Honiara

Fly Honiara to Seghe (via Suavanao)and boat to Paeva
11th July

3/4 nights Lagoon Haus, near Paeva Village, Gatakote Island

14/15th to 20th July ????

Honiara to Perth
21st July

I was considering Munda for some diving, staying at Zipolo Habu resort and/ or Matakuri lodge in Morovo lagoon. However I wonder if they may be fairly similar to what we will already seen? Would love to try Malaita or somewhere outside the Solomons but this looks like would involve a trip back to Honiara so would be pushed for time in the last few days. I have been to Tetepare about 10 years ago so would probably like to see somewhere new, but this could be an option?

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Juliet

Auki Lodge, Auki, Malaita can arrange tours to Langa Langa and Lau Lagoons and other destinations - http://www.solomonislands-hotels.travel/Auki_Lodge.

Another option might be to fly to Bellona and/or Rennell islands, two Polynesian outliers in Renbel Province. There's a guesthouse on Bellona Island, the Renbel office in Honiara will know how to get in touch with Barnabas, the owner, and there is also a small cave resort - http://www.visitsolomons.com.sb/accommodation/eco-lodges/aotaha-cave-lodge - where you sleep in caves. Very comfortable caves :-) Must try and squash yourself into the bat cave as well. And Lake Tegano on Rennell Island also has accommodation - http://www.travellerspoint.com/guide/Rennell/
