3 Week Itinerary - Fiji and TongaCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Hi all I have a friend currently living in Tonga and I am hoping to head over there to visit in February for a couple of weeks, but the thought of going via Fiji has also sprung up. Any suggestions for a 2-3 week itinerary Sydney (Australia) - Fiji - Tonga - Sydney (or reverse) I've heard it can be worth taking flights between some of the smaller islands so am happy to do that to save a day + horribly long boat rides (though I don't mind boats either) I really have no idea where to start. Things I'd like to do are general sight seeing, hikes, diving (I have my open water) and eat local food (regardless of how many potatoes there are!) Any tips would be great! Dave
Assuming you have about a week for each country, and those interests, you might do best by doing a circle trip of Viti Levu in Fiji, with a few days on the beach on an island resort added, and visit Tongatapu and Eua in Tonga. | 1
In case you thought there were regular boats between Fiji and Tonga, basically there are no regular services between countries, so your only option is to fly. | 2
you should go to Vava'u its BEAUTIFUL especially wen u go by boat..as for Tongatapu becareful when u go to the blow holes there's this man that does massages and he honestly drives around looking/stalks for white tourists to con..fafa resort is a really good place to visit also.. | 3
If you fly into Fiji, you'll most likely end up in Nadi. Its an awful place, a small one too.. But there is plenty of diving in the nearby islands which are just a small boat ride away - meaning Yasawas and Mamanucas. If you want the best diving, go to Rainbow Reef. -J | 4
