I stayed at Teamo Hostel in Papeete, I agree for your 2 other nights to head to Moorea. I stayed at both Pension Motu Iti - nice snorkling and at Marks place. But if you want Beach time would stay at Nelsons or Moorea camping (haven't been there) Have a great trip.

Yes, definitely head to Moorea for a couple of nights.

If you can afford it, when you return from Moorea, the Mandarin in Papeete is not too bad for a mid-priced place there, and is near the market, etc.

We landed at Papeete around 5AM. Yes, it's blastead early but it seems Polynesians operate on a different time schedule. Anyway, we were transported down to the town docks where we picked up the government ferry service to Moorea. It was very fast and very cheap. Highly regarded, especially over the high cost aoplane flights that aren't often required. We stayed at the Hote Kaveva on Oponohu Bay. It's right next to TopDIve moorea. You won't see many topless European women at the Kaveka but it's got the best prices foods. Nice people all the way around.
