5 days in Fiji, Vanuatu, or New Caledonia?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Hi everyone, My fiance and I will be going to New Zealand for our honeymoon in September, and will have approximately 5 days to go to either Fiji, Vanuatu, or New Caledonia. If you had the choice, which would you pick? We are adventurous tourists and don't require luxury (though splurging on a beachfront cabana during our honeymoon does sound appealing :) ). Our ideal place would be one with beautiful scenery where we could do some hiking, good food, a place to have a beer at a fun local bar, and an interesting culture. We are trying to stay away from places that are too touristy, but we wouldn't discount a really beautiful, great place just because it is popular. Hopefully this is specific enough. Thank you in advance! Julia
Having been to all these places I would pick Fiji to return to. But that is because snorkeling is important to me and Fiji had the best. If you choose somewhere like Octopus Resort on Waya Island you will get great scenery, hiking, culture but your evening beer will have to be with the very interesting people who visit there as there is no where else to go in the evenings. It is a popular spot so booking early is suggested (and the food is good!) | 1
