a month in Fiji

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Fiji, for a month, is that too long and is it going to cost me an arm and a leg. Thinking of Nadi as a base for a few weeks and travelling to as many of the islands as possible. Any good suggestions for cheap sleeps or other places of real interest, beaches etc etc.

Cheers

You could easily spend an interesting month in Fiji. However, it will be too long if you base yourself in Nadi for that period.

Possibly. Fiji is not a real budget destination, especially if you compare it to southeast asia.

If you want to travel to many islands, you could take the well worn backpacker route and hop through the beautiful Yasawa islands.

Fiji can be very reasonable in the off-season. And the locally-owned resorts and hotels can be reasonable all year around. I enjoyed the Yasawa Islands and Latauka, Suva, Taveuni, and Kadavu for budget prices for six weeks in March and April in 1998. We brought our folding sea kayaks and open water diver cards.
