Accommodation in Rarotonga - Muri Retreat anyone?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
My partner and I (both 26) are headed to Rarotonga for 10 days at the end of March on our way to Australia, and are debating between two places to stay - Aremango or Muri Retreat. Has anyone had any experience with Muri Retreat? I haven't been able to find any threads on here. Muri Retreat looks beautiful (with own bathroom and kitchen) and in total would be only a tiny bit more than Aremango with shared facilities. It would also be nice to meet some fellow travellers though and this seems more likely at Aremango. I think they're pretty much in the same location, Muri Retreat a bit farther back from the beach...
I'm not sure of the exact location of Muri Retreat, but I think it's a bit inland, or even up the hill behind Muri. Aremango is on the main road, about 100m from the beach down a side path. You'll meet more people at Aremango, but as you noted, it's shared bath, kitchen, etc. But it's a nice layout, pretty small, usually pretty friendly people. Youwill probably get a lot more mozzies at Muri Retreat if it is inland, and March/april is still prime mozzie season. It's not too bad at Aremango. | 1
