Accommodation on Eastern Tongatapu (or Southern Tongatapu)Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Any suggestions for accommodation on Eastern Tongatapu? I've had a look on the 'net and guidebooks but haven't come up with much. Not expensive resorts please, they're above my budget. I'm looking at spending the last day of my trip cycling around visiting the Mu’a, Lapaha archeological site, Langi Leka pyramids, Ha’amona ‘a Maui Trilithon & Muihopoponga reserve, etc. I'd rather cycle from the accommodation to avoid waiting for buses, etc., hence the location I'm looking for. Southern Tongatapu is another possibility, although it'll make for a longer day's cycling. I know about the Fua’amotu Transit Lodge already (although not exactly where it's located; I assume it's within the Fua’amotu village). I assume Tongatapu is relatively flat, i.e. the cycling is easy.
Is there a way to move this to be in the "Tonga" sub-branch, or should I start a new thread...? | 1
Yes it's flat Fua'umotu being the highest point at about 30 meters maybe a bit less. I rented a bike in Nukulofa what a POFS it was but cycling was easy-take plenty o' water. The Transit Lounge is right off the highway 5 minutes from the airport. | 2
A nice spot on the Western end (I know - the opposite to your question, but I don't know how committed you are to the eastern side) is Good Samaritan Inn at Kolovai Beach - near the World Famous Flying Foxes of Kolovai: Edited by: bendigo | 3
