African Safari and Tahiti???Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea
Hi Everyone, I'm seeking the advice of experts. Has anyone been crazy enough to combine an african safari with a stay in the french polynesian islands? i have been looking for offers through travel agencies and I've also been looking for independent travel flights, etc and no luck at all. I can't seem to find a way to get from Africa to FP, nor does it seem to be cheap. Any ideas? Anybody done anything like this, or even heard of such a combination? I really need some help. We are working on honeymoon planning and these two are our favorite destinations, so we thought we'd put them together into one trip! Looking forward to your comments! Thanks, John
You CAN do both, but they are almost on opposite sides of the Earth. You may be able to get an RTW ticket that includes a lot of miles. check out French-based airlines, you may be able to get close to safari country in Africa and FP as well. | 1
As Raro indicated you may have some luck with an RTW ticket. Check out www.airtreks.com - they have an option where you can plan your own trip by inputing the cities you want to travel to and checking the approximate cost of that route. You can try different combinations until you find something you like in your price range. Another suggestion - check out www.airtimetable.com - here you can find a link to airlines and their routes; can really help with planning more complicated routes. You can also find out which airlines services a particular place. Hope this helps! | 2
Thanks Raro and Newfie, I will check out your suggestions. One issue that I have is that my fiance and I are planning on doing an RTW trip in the near future. Something to do after getting married, but before having kids. I didn't think about that option for this itinerary, hoping that it would be cheaper buying a couple of round trips instead of an RTW ticket. Thanks for your suggestions. If you or anyone else thinks of something, please let me know. Thanks, john | 3
