click here if you dont believe me FIJI’S AIR PACIFIC TO BEGIN NADI-RAROTONGA SERVICE SUVA, Fiji (Fijilive, Jan. 24, 2011) – Fiji should expect visitor arrival numbers to increase from the region after a deal was signed between Air Pacific and the Cook Islands government, for new flight routes between Nadi and Rarotonga. The Cook Islands Tourism Corporation CITC said this new signing will see more visitors from the Cook Islands arriving on our shores. Air Pacific is also in the process of reaching an agreement with the Cook Islands Government for a three-year contract, whereby a Nadi to Rarotonga weekly flight will be in operation, which will offer direct north bound connections to the Hong Kong service. Air Pacific is a new carrier to the Cook Islands and the introduction of the service will enable visitors to easily island hop between the Cook Islands and Fiji, a popular route previously serviced by Air New Zealand. Tourism Fiji CEO Josefa Tuamoto said this is another milestone for Air Pacific and Tourism Fiji because they would also try and tap regional visitors. CITC chief executive officer Carmel Beattie is extremely excited about the announcement and added that this allows us them to heavily promote the Pacific islands to key markets, including the UK, like never before. The airline expects the code share to come into force at the end of February 2011, after obtaining relevant government approvals. Fijilive: http://www.fijilive.com
Long overdue and most welcome! And if anyone can make that route work/last, Air Pacific it is. | 1
I hope it will be well patronised. AirNZ used to have a weekly Raro/Nadi flight until about 18 months ago when it was withdrawn because of lack of custom. | 2
