I've just bought a 1 month (not 30 days) Micronesia air pass with Continental.
Glad to hear that the pass is still active. It always seems like Continental hides the details, when I wrote my Palau Guidebook I attempted to get official information from Continental Airlines, but they would not give out the information. Did you book it with a travel agent? Did you book it in the United States? Does it include the flight from Los Angeles or does the fare begin in Honolulu? Sory to ask so many questions, but I am sure there are others out there who are interested in the particulars. Papa Mike | 1
I tried their web-site as well, but it was no good.Where as the girls in Continentals' (5801,The Centre,Queens Road,Central) office in Hong Kong - where I bought the tickets - were very helpful. | 2
Hi All, | 3 | |
Thanks for a little more insight into the world's most closely guarded secret, the Continental Micronesian Air Pass, or as we all now know, code word "Vusmic" It does appear many of you will have to imigrate to a country served by Continental in order to qualify for the fare, small price to pay for a discounted ticket, eh? Happy travels to all! Papa Mike | 4
Hi all, Thank you John for the information about booking Visit Micronesia airpass from Continental's Hong Kong office. I was staying for a while in Hong Kong and I booked the 5 stops pass for January. Their office is not in the same place any more but I managed to buy the pass by calling their Hong Kong service number. The pass is valid for 30 days and the route Guam-Majuro-Kosrae-Pohnpei-Guam-Yap-Koror-Guam cost me 8836 HKD (998 USD) in total (including taxes and fees). You have to fly in and out of Guam with Continental but it doesn't have to be from your place of origin like it was mentioned above. Since I'll be in Philippines in January I booked the tickets to Guam from Manila. | 5
after being transferred thru 5 desks and too many people via UNITED AIRLINES yesterday on the phone, I was able to reach the "alliance" desk. I understand these prices to be cheaper than what you would normally pay if you booked on your own, but in order to get the cheapest route, you do not want to back-track through 2 zones at a time. There is no base price to pay for the pass, but you just have to know it exists. There is a 3 days stay minimum at each stop-over, and you must complete at least 2 stop-overs in order to get the discounted fares. I believe that you can "start" at any of the airports they service with the micronesia pass, however they do include tokyo as a starting point... additionally, you might want to know that you can only buy the airpass discounted fares following the purchase of a round-trip ticket to one of the origin cities, using award miles or money on a star alliance / united partner.... | 6
