| tony99922:15 UTC01 Apr 2009 | hi all! we are going to be travelling to oz and nz in a few months from the uk via sth america. while we are there we want to get an airpass that will allow us to see maybe 4, 5 or 6 islands in micronesisa or polynesia in a 3 month-ish period. which one's dont really matter too much as they all look like the most beautifull place on earth! we are buying a rtw ticket, but are having a hard time working out what is the best way of getting an airpass. we see a few different ones and aircalin look as if it could be usefull, but we cant really quite get any of the mileage and fare calculators to work, so we can't see our options! is there anyone here who would have some experience buying airpasses that we could learn from? any advice on the best way to go about it would be greatfully recieved. we are couple and would be backpacking. many thanks for any advice given.

| Laszlo08:58 UTC20 Apr 2009 | When I was looking into this, I found that these days individual discounted fares were cheaper than those offered by most passes. Aircalin's Oceanie pass (still exists?) was indeed one exception, but unfortunately that airline only flies to a few countries. If interested in combining French Polynesia, New Caledonia and Vanuatu, it could be worth buying.
Some domestic passes can also be good value, especially in the expensive French territories.
