Applying for a Chinese visa in Samoa or Fiji... is it possible?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea

Hello,

I am British Citizen heading off on a round the world trip in January 2013. I am spending 2 months in Samoa and some time in Fiji before heading on to Hong Kong and China. I was just wondering if it was at all possible to get a visa for china in Fiji or Samoa as I will not be getting to china until the 5th May but will be leaving the uk on 30th Jan. This means if I apply back here in london it will be expired by the time I enter china. Any help or advice on this would be much appreciated, would rather get it in Samoa if possible as I will be there for longer.

Cheers.

Yes you can do this from Samoa. A visitors visa takes 5 days to get and costs WST$90.00 which is for 3 months. You need to show them your itinerary, tickets and an invitation letter explaining the reason for your visit. You can contact the Chinese Embassy on +685 22474.

Thank you :) thats good to know, think thats what ill do. what do you mean by invitation letter? I'm just going there to travel from hong kong to Beijing then flying on to Bangkok, don't know anyone actually in china, just hong kong.

If you plan to spend at least 2 working days in HK, it may well be easier to get your Chinese visa there. They issue them there without fuss, no need for tickets, reservations, invites and other nonsense.
